2023-24 Pacific Support Fund

We're excited to announce we are recipients of the Ministry of Education's Pacific Support Fund!

The funding increases our impact in the Pacific communities we serve in the Counties-Manukau region of Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland), Aotearoa. For primary schools, our programme engages with students and their whanau, hands-on flying of drones, learning safety routines and expanding career opportunities. For high-school schools, we're now able to offer NCEA unit standards (with our NZQA-accredited PTE) in addition to our whanau engagement, drone experience at no cost!

Build and fly your own drone with our trainer Charlie and the Circuit Scribe Drone Builder Kit!

Your students can learn how to build and fly their own drone using our Drone Builder Kit and the blueprints. They can learn step by step how to assemble their drone, then take to the skies with the CS Pilot App! Charlie will show you how to Design, Create and Power your cardboard arms with conductive silver ink. Plan and connect your drone's hub and motors. Download the controller app and take to the skies!

PLD Leader - Professor of Flight: Dr Craig Hansen

Dr Craig has 30+ years of creative leadership experience in education, both in Aotearoa and internationally (seen here in Jakarta leading one training for the Google Educator Group of West Jakarta).

With a strong, proven history of professional development (past ICT Cluster Director, Principal of Educational Technology etc.), Craig leads with passion and skill when relating with teachers, board members and community. Drone Legends is the largest STEM.org approved flight programme in North America, now in Aotearoa. Craig launched Drone Legends in a South Auckland Alternative Education centre.

With incredible engagement, communication with whanau and integration with both NCEA Achievement Standards & primary curriculum Craig has developed a highly dynamic, attention-grabbing initiative. With a PhD in the Creative Industries, Craig's thesis focused on how to ensure graduates are the MOST successful they can be when they enter the world of work. Craig's research was motivated by his years as Principal of Lifeway College, which held the distinction of being New Zealand's leading animation school with the highest graduate success rate.
